Musgrave Soccer Club was established in 1970 by John Stainsby realizing the growing popularity of the game Soccer/Football and the need for a club in the Musgrave district. It was one of only a few clubs on the Gold Coast.

John cleared the council bushland that was made available for soccer and thanks to him we celebrated the club's 40th year of soccer on the Gold Coast last August 2010. We have serviced the needs of our community over 3 decades developing soccer for over 6000 children at that time.

We have had competitive senior and junior teams in all divisions of Football Gold Coast over this time and have had many players go on to greater achievements progressing to rep teams, Brisbane Strikers and now Brisbane Roar and Australian schoolboys teams. In 2013 we recognised a need for an inclusive program so that children of all abilities had an opportunity to play soccer. We are the only program of this kind on the Gold Coast. In the debut year, we had 30 members and were honoured to have received an award from the Spinal Injuries Associations Inclusive Community Champions Awards.

Gold Coast Soccer stalwart John Stainsby will forever be remembered at Musgrave Football Club after the naming of a grandstand at the club’s Keith Hunt Park headquarters in his honour. John Stainsby, a life member and previous board member of the old Gold Coast Soccer Association, has strong ties with Musgrave, his time there dating back to 1970.
